Using Keywords to Narrow Search

Each of the Search options (except for Keywords search) allows you to narrow your search by using Keywords. Entering a word or phrase in the Keywords box will return all items in the database that contain the word or phrase you have entered within the category that you have selected. For example, if you selected Chapter 9 of the OPG, Servicing and Monitoring, you would receive resources and questions relating to First, Second and Third mortgages. You can, however, narrow the search to only those resources and questions that contain the words "second mortgage" by entering this phrase into the keywords box. It is important to select an item within the search category. If you only enter a keyword, but have forgotten to check a box indicating the area in which you wish to search, no results will be returned.

When you select multiple keywords or phrases (separated by commas), you have the option of checking "and" or "or". "And" returns any documents that have all of your keywords (i.e., x and y and z); "Or" returns any documents that have any one of your keywords (i.e., x or y or z).

Use of the Keywords search page returns all results, throughout the entire database, that contain the word or phrase you have entered.

Also, note that the text of some forms is not searchable by keywords, and so these resources will not be returned as search results, even if they contain text that matches your search criteria.
